What is the EM SCO Kiosk?

Built for fuel. Ready for food. Perfect for convenience.

The EM SCO-K is GaP Solutions' card-only self-checkout kiosk, engineered for the environments that operate hardest — fuel forecourts, on-site food service, and independent convenience stores.

A 21.5" portrait touchscreen, integrated barcode scanner, built-in EFTPOS terminal and thermal receipt printer, all in a slim pedestal just 360mm wide at the base. It fits where traditional checkouts simply cannot.

Built on the NCR Voyix Kiosk SCO platform and powered by EM Pos™ software, with EM Cloud™ reporting across every lane. Card payment only — no cash, no float, no end-of-day balancing.

The business case

Five reasons operators choose the EM SCO Kiosk

Fuel sites, takeaways and convenience stores share one thing: customers who are in a hurry.

1. Faster customer throughput

In high-traffic environments like forecourts and takeaways, speed is everything. Customers scan, pay and go in seconds — reducing queue length and keeping vehicles and foot traffic moving.

2. Reduce labour dependency

One team member can manage multiple kiosks simultaneously. For sites facing ongoing staffing pressure, that reduces reliance on front-of-house staff without reducing service quality.

3. No cash. No complexity.

Card-only transactions eliminate cash handling, float management and end-of-day balancing — ideal for unattended or lightly staffed forecourt environments where cash security is a concern.

4. Fits where others won't

At just 360mm wide at the base, the kiosk installs in tight forecourt shops, compact food counters and small-format convenience stores with no structural changes required.

5. Higher spend per transaction

Research consistently shows customers spend 15–25% more through self-service kiosks versus staffed lanes. With no cashier prompting a hurried interaction, shoppers browse and add at their own pace.

One solution. Three environments.

Where the EM SCO Kiosk earns its keep

On the Forecourt

Fuel sites are time-critical environments. Motorists fill up and want to be in and out fast. The EM SCO Kiosk installs inside your forecourt shop, letting customers self-checkout snacks, drinks and convenience items in seconds without queuing at a manned counter.

With card-only transactions and no cash to manage, your team stays focused on the forecourt.

In the Convenience Store

For independent grocery and convenience operators, the EM SCO Kiosk delivers enterprise-grade self-checkout in a form factor that suits small stores.

Reduce your staffing requirement, accept card payments securely, and free up your team to manage shelves, stock and customer queries.

At the Food Counter

From a simple café to a full QSR or takeaway on a fuel site, the EM SCO Kiosk handles food and beverage checkouts with the same ease. Customers pay for their order at the kiosk and collect from the counter — cutting front-of-house labour and reducing order errors.

Kiosk ordering is proven to increase average transaction values by 15–25% versus counter service.

The cost of staffed checkouts

Four staffed checkout lanes running 8:00am to 9:00pm require 52 hours of attendant coverage per day. Run the same four lanes as self-checkout kiosks, with one team member supervising across the same period, and that drops to 13.

Frequently asked questions

What is the EM SCO Kiosk (EM SCO-K)? +
The EM SCO-K is GaP Solutions' card-only self-checkout kiosk, built for fuel forecourts, on-site food service and independent convenience stores. It combines a 21.5" portrait touchscreen, an integrated barcode scanner, a built-in EFTPOS terminal and a thermal receipt printer in a slim pedestal just 360mm wide at the base. It's built on the NCR Voyix Kiosk SCO platform and powered by EM Pos™ software, with EM Cloud™ reporting across every lane.
Does the EM SCO Kiosk accept cash? +
No — the EM SCO-K is card-only by design. It accepts EMV chip and contactless NFC payments, including major digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. With 94% of in-person card payments in Australia already contactless, card-only is a natural fit. Removing cash eliminates float management, end-of-day balancing and cash-handling shrinkage, which matters most in unattended or lightly staffed forecourt environments.
How much space does the EM SCO Kiosk need? +
The base footprint is just 360 × 260mm, with a top width of 460mm, depth of 250mm and total height of 1,860mm. That slim pedestal installs in tight forecourt shops, compact food counters and small-format convenience stores with no structural changes and no loss of product space.
What configurations are available? +
Five: Core — Card Only with no bagging shelf; 1-Bag at 400mm, 500mm or 700mm shelf height; and Core with a bolt-down base plate for permanently fixed installation. The two adjustable bagging shelves (300 × 240mm each) set at 400, 500 or 700mm, so the kiosk can be configured to suit your store type and typical basket size.
How many kiosks can one staff member supervise? +
One team member can manage multiple kiosks simultaneously. Operating data shows four staffed checkout lanes running 8:00am to 9:00pm require 52 hours of attendant coverage per day; running the same four lanes as self-checkout kiosks with a single supervising team member reduces that to 13 hours — a saving of 39 hours of labour every day.
Does it integrate with our existing POS and reporting? +
Yes. The EM SCO-K runs EM Pos™, the same software as GaP counter systems, and reports into EM Cloud™ alongside your other lanes. Operators get real-time visibility of transaction volumes, uptime and payment trends across every kiosk from any device — particularly useful for multi-site fuel and convenience operators managing locations remotely.
What support does GaP Solutions provide? +
The EM SCO-K is backed by GaP Solutions' service network across Australia and New Zealand, covering implementation, staff training, technical service and help desk support. It runs on Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 — a long-lifecycle, stable operating environment designed for continuous retail operation.
